Sydney rental vacancy rate hit 12 month low in April

The Sydney residential rental market contracted for a third consecutive month in April, according to REINSW data. Vacancies in the inner suburbs of Sydney (0-10km from CBD) were down 0.1 per cent to 1.6 per cent in April.

However, our experience is that things have softened slightly in May, which is consistent with seasonal trends as winter descends on our beach-side suburbs. As always in the east, well priced and well presented properties are popular, but some properties are taking slightly longer to rent. We expect the rental market to continue to soften in the winter months, tightening again as we head into Spring.
