A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about the NSW Government’s proposed reform of planning laws. The changes aim radically to transform the system of planning in this state. As always, the devil is in the detail, and the implementation (which will be difficult).
On 16 April, the Government released its White Paper on the reforms. There will be public consultation on this document until 28 June.
Given the significance of the proposed changes, and their ability directly to affect development in our local areas, it is important meaningfully to engage in this process. So far, it seems that this engagement hasn’t been happening. See this opinion piece in yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald: SMH article.
Here is a link to the White Paper and information on how you can comment: Link to White Paper.
We”ll post again with our thoughts on the White Paper and draft exposure bill shortly.
